I didn't get the entire machine but I recently acquired this 45 HP Holt harvester engine. Last picture is of a combine similar to what it powered.

Looks like it should be in an old ship or submarine! Could see an engineer oiling and adjusting it. Did they have to do that on the old combines? What do you think that weighs? I have an old Deere combine with a huge Hercules engine on it. Big chunk of cast iron!

What do you plan to do with the engine? About 20 horses out front of the combine?

I counted 40 horses on one combine photo the other day. My grandfather told me he tied his 4 horses to the tractor pulling the combine one harvest to pull the tractor when it bogged down in the mud. He said he told the guys "we're cutting wheat today no matter what!" Four Horse Assist I guess!
