Could someone help me identify what I
actually have here? It said Gleaner
Baldwin with the serial #A20023, it also
has a sticker on the door that said
comfort metal cab. I bought this old
combine from an estate sale in Texas and
im trying to find out more about it but
im not finding much information. Any help
would be appreciated. Thanks

The list I have shows that to be a 1959 Gleaner A. It should say Allis Chalmers on it as AC had bought Gleaner by then. AC had also bought Buda by then. At some point the Hercules engine was replaced with an AC/Buda, but I don't know if that date can be determined. Back then cabs were aftermarket. Again, I don't know that a date can be determined when OEM cabs became available.

It does say allis Chalmers on it. The paint is faded and I didn't make it out at first. Are parts easy to find? Thank you for your help

Allis bought Gleaner in 1955. I can't speak directly to an A, but Gleaner parts in general aren't a problem. AGCO supports them pretty well, along with after market sources. AGCO was formed pretty much to save the Gleaner combine brand. AGCO means Allis Gleaner Corporation.

The A shares some parts with the E and K models. Standard parts like chains, bearings and belts are easy to match up, but specific parts like final drives are available used only.

Sounds like Allis-Chalmers got involved in 1959. Anyone know what the time span of the early Gleaner Baldwin combines were with Pull type and Model A ford engines?? My son picked up one of them engines and it was all set up like an industrial Engine?Cleddy
