Corn Head for 45 John Deere

I guess I will hope for something closer first, I don t travel too good anymore. I think it needs to be off a 45 to fit. Thanks for your response. I will keep you in mind.

If it doesn't have a feeder house then
the heads are machine specific.
Late model 45s should have a feeder house

No 45's had their own feederhouse. They were all on the heads and the feederhouse is 23 inches wide. A 55 will measure 30 inches. The quiktach feederhouse did not come out untill the hundred series machines. Not sure if they were available for the 5 series machines right from the start or if it went a while untill Deere offered them for the older machines. There were not many quiktach feederhouses sold for the 45's. I have had 2 over the years. The head he needs is a 205,210,234 or a 235. Not a big difference in 234 and 235. I have a 235 on my one 45. Tom

I have seen a number of 95 and 105 with a quick detach header,, always figured the smaller ones had them also,, Steve on here has several of them installed on CASE machines so he can use later style heads,, pretty sure he used ones from 105's for the 1660/1665 and 95's for the 1160,, thought I had pics handy of them but cant find them right now, I had been offered a gas engine 105 square back a few years back it had a quick attach 20 or 22' grain head

The quik tach feederhouse is what I have on my 95 and 105 and they were available for the 45 and 55 as well. But they were never sold new with the quik tach. They came out with the hundred series machines. For the 55,95 and 105's you could remove the grain platform and leave the factory feederhouse on but that style would not take a corn head. The bottom of the face plate curves forward and it has a finger drum in front of the feederhouse chain. That was not offered on the 45's. Tom

so you are saying that the owners bought a whole new header and feeder house for them at a later date? seems like a lot of coin for a little change,, I will take your word for it as i sure am not in the know about JD combines much,, the 105 i was offered sure had the same color fade on it on the head/feeder house and machine,, so it must have been done early on,, wish i had snapped pics of it now so we would have had the model of the head, just for sake of discussion, thanks for the info

To use the cornheads that came out with the hundred series machines 244-344-444-643 ect you needed to buy a new feederhouse when installing them on a 45,55,95 and 105. You also needed a new grain platform but there were some aftermarket companies that made adapters to use the old style headers for the 55,95 and 105 on the new style feederhouse. The new corn heads were such an improvement over the old 235,335,435 and 635 heads that is was worth the expense. It was a good bit of money to spend but most companies would not have even bothered to make the new heads fit the old combines. Tom

The 105 JD feeder house on my 1660 and 1665 JI Case combines lets me use JD flex, straight and corn heads. Takes some time but works good.

I totally forget about corn heads as no corn right here where I am I could see that on them and that would make the grain head upgrade worthwhile, that makes sense,, the 105 I am talking about was sold in small grain country,, I wonder if it was a custom cutters machine possibly at one point,, I could see them paying for the upgrade,, but not for a average small grain person,, it came from south Montana and a lot of guys ran custom units,, not sure how they hauled those 105's then man that things was WIDE at the drive wheels,, if I could have hauled it I would have got it it was in decent shape, i did get the drive tire/wheels,, as they are diamond tread which i much prefer here on our hard ground, so much less vibration that likes to shake machines apart

The late model square back 45s had feeder house installed at
the factory. I installed some of them myself as I worked
at harvester works for 35 years.
