Pull type combine pictures part 2

These were the combines I grew up running in the late 70's to the early 90's.

G1000 Minneapolis Moline and John Deere 96 combine, and a Massey 410 just to give some people nightmares.

very nice pictures. We had a 96 for awhile... it had the vertical window in the grain tank, as does one of yours. Thank you for sharing!!

I think the late model 96's had the vertical window. If you are in a tractor with a low seat you can't see the grain coming in the tank with the horizontal window.

I am really enjoying your pics. Tell us some about your operation then. Where was it located, how many acres, did you do summer fallow, how much livestock? Thanks Tom

I had a 42. It was way too easy to put too much tractor on it, crowd it too much and put a lot of grain out the back because you couldn't get a sense of overloading it due to lack of power. It was a pleasure to sit in the air conditioned cab of the 4040 and cut, but it sure left a carpet of grain growing where the windrow was, after the first rain.

I have never seen one. The hitch was rigid on the 96 and there was not much room from the hitch to the feederhouse, so if there was one it would have to have been offset and the cornheads of that era on a 95 were massive and heavy compared to the ones that came out a few years later.
