JD 6600 Combine Left Brake Drum Removal

I am trying to remove the left hand brake drum on my 6600. I have the axle shaft removed already but I am looking like a monkey doing a math problem in trying to figure out this drum sitting between the clutch housing and transmission case is supposed to come off. I have seen a few posts about how to get this far but none discussing the "details" in particular about exactly how to get the LEFT drum off. Right one was a breeze. I am in hopes that it does not require dropping the clutch housing so I have come here to the experts to help me.

Can any of you give me some instructions on this?

Thanks in advance.

SV, does it show or specify anything about the left brake? The illustration is for the right, but the left has clutch housing that prevents it from just sliding off. At least it appears to prevent it.

I believe you have to remove the shaft from
the transmission. Should be a snap ring
somewhere behind drum. It been long time
but that what I remember. I still have a
6600/7700 tech manual in the shop, I'll
look at it tomorrow.

The snap ring is there to keep shaft from sliding out before drum is removed, correct? I am wondering if it requires the removal of the shaft in the transmission and then going through the access hole in drum to remove the 5 mounting bolts for the backing plate and then maybe the whole assembly will just come down. Could that be the case? Of course that will be doozy when that last bolt comes out.
