This Case machine sold well ($1000 I think I remember) at auction. It was in really nice condition "top side", but I didn't look underneath. Several other threshing machines at this auction were really worn and rusted underneath. Castilia, Iowa Sept 15

I don't know much about them, but that's 28 in Diameter, and 47 wide cyl,? The Amish buy a lot of them machines, they got the labor to use em. If that's a 47 wide machine, thats going to take some power to run that!

The 28 means width of the cylinder and 47 is the width of the straw racks and cleaning shoe. about 40 to 45 HP should be adequate as the power source.

You were only 5 miles away from me! I knew the previous owner. Every sale he went to he bought something. He saved a lot of threshing machines from scrap. I didn't make it to the sale but did make it there the day before to look at stuff. How did the threshers sell? I fear that they would go to scrap. I really liked the small Belle City "Fordson" model. Neat little thresher.

I didn't make a list of thresher prices, but as best I can remember, most were in the $150 to $350 range and the bidder number was the same on several- hope it wasn't the scrap man - but I am not from the area so have no way of knowing who was a scrap man. I know several were bought by Amish as they stand out in the crowd with their whiskers. Many machines were badly rusted on the bottom tin.

I would have liked to have gone too and seen things sell I wonder if manthey iron from Mauston wis was there and bought a lot of the items for iron they bought most of the machinery at ed stievers sale near winona mn july 30
