E Gleaner corn head

Hello,

I have a friend looking for a two row head for a E. He lives near Minneapolis. Does anyone know of a good head in the Iowa, Minnesota or Wisconsin area?

Thanks
Jim

Yes it will fit. BUT. AC provided a drive adaptor to put that newer, better head on the E. I imagine it would be near impossible to find that drive adaptor bundle.

I wish I had been on these websites earlier because about 7 years ago we called the scrap man to pick up a 238 that was always shedded and looked close to new. makes me kinda sick. Ryan

Sorry to break in here, but I see there are several people that have appear to have experience with 238 headers for a Gleaner E
I just bought one online in Nebraska, (I'm in New Mexico) and plan to go pick it up in a few weeks. I was hoping someone would have some information on the dimensions of this header, and what the best way to haul it on a trailer would be. It is very difficult to judge size from the pictures. Points up appears to have the smallest footprint for a flatbed trailer, but is that a practical way to haul it? Any information would be greatly appreciated.

Just haul it flat as it would be mounted on the combine, much more stable than points up. You can lift it with most front end loaders, they are not that heavy, maybe 1200 - 1500 lbs. Should be around 70 inches wide.

Great, thanks! I'm not wanting to drag my trailer up to Nebraska, I was figuring on getting a one way U-haul rental, but wasn't sure what size I would be looking at. That width info is very helpful

Finally got the 2E corn head home, had to take the points off to get it to fit on the trailer (long story about how we had to load it) I'm in the process of stripping it down for restoration / reassembly. I have an owners manual and a parts manual, but none of the parts numbers seem to show up in a web search. specifically right now I'm looking for bearings 536988, and 541568. (gathering chain idler and input drive shaft bearings) Anybody have any ideas other than to measure and get a "will fit"?
