The upper return auger on the 7720 is getting razor sharp. Would like to replace it, but how? Looks like there is to many things in the way. I
didn't think it should be to complicated, but it is under the cab, so......

Well you guys can remove the elevator if you really like to do extra work. LOL You do not have to remove the elevator or upper auger boot. Just remove the bearings and flanges for each end. Then on the left side you will notice there is a slot on one side of the hole that the auger shaft goes through. You pull the auger over to that side. Line up the auger flighting with that slot. You can screw the auger out of the housing this way. Simple and easy. Install the new one the same way and install new bearings. Your good to go.

Funny reading the comments about taking the elevator off. Even my 1957 55 has the slot so you can screw out the bottom elevator auger.

Your are right! I went and looked at my old 7720 last night and forgot to reply back. I don't think I ever replaced just the auger, most of the time it was new tailing chain, both upper and lower augers and bearings. I may be wrong again but did the earlier 20 series have a wooden block instead of a bearing on the back?

Maybe on the titan 2 they went with a bearing. I still have a 7720 but it's used very little. Dang good machine just not as nice as the newer ones.
