Hello everyone
I am looking for a two row corn head for a 1958 JD #45 combine I am restoring ,hope to find the model used on the 58's ,hopefully not to far from central Colorado !

I've got a 210 that I would consider a parts head. Could be fixed but would require a lot of work. Also have a working 234 and a parts 234. I'm in southern middle TN. Long drive.

I have a 234 off a 45 that I bought for mine and have never
got around to doing it I bought out out of Tenn. it's now in Sw
Okla

The 234 will not fit that machine. You need the axle extensions in to be able to put it on and they will be impossible to find. I found that out quite a few years ago trying to put one on a 65 model 45 and the tires were same width on the 65 as on the 62 and 63 year machines. Finally put it on a 69 model 45 that had a factory wide axle. Stick with looking for a No. 10 or for next level up a 210 head and parts for them were no longer avaible 15 years ago. A 235 head is correct width but then you get into drive problems.

The no 10 is the correct head for the HI 45 machines and that is what yours would be. The 210 head is for the Hi-Lo 45 machines and early 45SB machines with the 234 head for the wide axle 45SB machine and was a better fit in the 55 with the 235 head following up for a better head for a 45 machine.

Would have been the 10 as the 210 did not come out untill the 60's about the time of the Hi-Lo machines and the 58 would be a Hi machine. I got the first 45 a 62 Hi-Lo in the mid 70's and have not seen a No. 10 since that time.

They were the lest popular head made, made before shelling was popular and no body was equiped to handle shelled corn with moisture. And probably 99.99% of the heads ever made have long been in the scrap yard. Supprised if there would still be a hundred still in extiance. Unless you want it strictly for a show piece that you would never run any corn with look for a 210 head if you plan to put any corn thru it. And even with that you will be hard pressed to find a head in working condition.

well it is mostly for show,I might run it some just to show people how it works,I also have a 105 to do most of the work.I am not a big corn producer, the 45 is mostly just for fun!
