JD Guys: 335N off 95. Make it fit 55?

Hey all,

Our buddy with the JD 55 had me looking for a 335N corn head for him, and I finally located one, but it came off a 95.

Our other JD buddy assured us they heads were convertible from 95 to 55 applications. How is this done? I want to make sure it will fit his 55 before I haul it 1000 miles... :)

Thank you!

You're talking a 3 row wide head? Pretty heavy on a 55. Would need the adapter to go on the narrower 55 machine. I know there were adapters for the 95 and 105 machines but not sure on the 55.

On the end of the feederhouse (or throat) is a large fabricated steel bracket that surrounds the augers, and has the mounts to attach the head to the combine. This needs to be replaced with one that is 10 inches narrower for the 55. One could probably modify the one that is there, but pictures or an original to measure would be helpful.

The 335N means a 3 row 30" head. And that would be standard for a 55 machine. I woyld think it was too narrow to be used on a 95 for running down the rows to the side. Thought they could only use a 335W 3 row 40" head or a 4 row head. The 313 head was used on a 45 series combine without any problems. and it could also be put on a 55 with different mounts.

I am not near you, but I do have a buddy that I dont think is too far away.

Any idea what he wants price wise before I bother him? We know of one for 1000 but he decided that was too much money for this project.

The one I found is scrap price, but fits a 95.

I would still consider a quick tach conversion feederhouse for a 55, as I do have a 343.
