John Deere 105 Feederhouse

I have found a 105 gas burner with both heads for $1,200.00 and I plan on buying it if it runs and moves.

The only problem is we are primarily wanting it to cut soybeans and the grain table is rotted out. I don’t know where to find a Parts head to get a floor out of and I have no idea where to start with new.

I haven’t gotten to see the machine yet but I am assuming that if I could find a feederhouse for it I would be better off going to newer heads. I’m not opposed to running the old heads but no idea where to find them in southern Indiana.

I know of a 6600 and 7700 sitting in a junk yard that I could get the feederhouse off of but not sure how much adapting it would take to get it converted over?

Could one cut a feederhouse out of an old style head and adapt
It to use newer heads?

If you could find a quick attach feeder house you would be better off. I looked into converting the feeder house on my 105 to quick attach style and it would have been more work than it was worth, and expensive too. I did find a quick attach feeder house though but it was 20 years ago. I then put a 20’ bean head on it and it was a good match.

A 105 quik tach feeder house should fit. Salvage yard should have one. I use them on my JI Case machines...

Some where in the $500 price range should buy you a factory quick attach feederhouse for your 105. That is the way I would go. If you go to a newer head you are going to need to come up with a way to run the hyd. drive reel. It is doable and there are several ways to do it. That 105 is going to use a lot of gas in a day. Mine sure did so we changed it over to a diesel engine. You might try Bowie equipment in Tipton Iowa as he still has a good many 5 series machines for parts. He is fairly reasonable on prices as well. Of all the 5 series machines the 105 is the easiest to find the latter quick attach feederhouse for. I have an extra that I paid $250 for but I want to keep it for parts.I have a good 13 ft platform that has always been shedded untill last fall that I would sell. I am in south west WI.A platform could come off a 55,95 or a 105. Good luck and post some pics when you get it. Tom

I had a Quick Attach feeder house for my 105 gas, a guy bought it from Minnesota, put a add in a national paper, you would be surprised at what farmers got in there machine sheds.

Tom my 105 was drinking like a lush because of wear in the accelerator pump vacuum plunger inside the carb. On the recommendation from an old Deere mechanic I took the carb apart and plugged the vacuum port in the carb. The downside to it is the throttle had to be opened very slowly or the engine would sit there and pop through the carb without picking up speed. Once it was up to speed all was well and the fuel economy was much better but still nothing compared to a diesel.
