Thinking about a 2144

Hey guys I am running a Deere cylinder machine "41 inches" now. Been thinking about moving to a CaseIh. Only have about a half section tillage, some times corn runs 150ish, beans 50 or so. Some times more other years less. Don't plan on adding any ground.
I am between two Case dealers "Old line". Both have transitioned well into the new generations. I will keep my 6 row corn head and 50A row head, might search for a Case Ih flexhead or run my 918 flex. I will need an adapter.
I know these rotaries are rebuildable forever, John Hagen being a perfect example.

You will not be disappointed. Get the heads that go with it. Never heard of a combine be described by cylinder dimensions.
 
Have a 1640 here in E SD. Use the JD 643 and 220 flex heads on it. Built the adapter for $75 worth of steel and paint. Have to use a
universal joint to hook the drives up but works very good. Simple smooth running machine with a 5.9 Cummins engine.

I have owned about every brand combine, JD, MF, IH, Gleaner, and I now have a IH 1440 and a CaseIh 1640. The Gleaners were the best for me until I got the 1440. The IH rotarys have been the smoothest, trouble free combines I have had. Easy to work on and find parts for. I found a 1640 going cheap at an auction, so now I have 2. I traded an older IH conventional combine for a new Massey. Used it 1 yr and sold it and the dealer still had my old combine, nobody wanted it and I bought it back. The old one was more trouble free than the new one.
