6620 combine workin in organic corn

I did a little custom harvesting of organic corn for a friend. All went well except i always had my tailings elevator filled with corn on level ground.
It was making that all familar salt and pepper shaker sound. I used to pick corn with a 4400 and the tailings auger only got noisey going up hills.I had a clean sample and the mill told me i had the cleanest corn around.(with the 4400)
So i was wandering if this is normal to have so much corn returning thru the tailings elevator.Moisture level was about 21-22%. I had to run my fan at 900rpm to keep the sample clean. My cylinder speed was 425rpm.Concave was open to 1 to 1 1/2 inches.Sieve was open about 1/4 inch.Chaffer was closed inside and open 3/4 inch on the outer end. Also mention that i had a 443 cornhead. Is the 6620 a more fussy machine to set up ? Is a noisy tailings elevater normal> Can anyone comment on this

Your either have the front of the chaffer set too tight and the back half is letting the corn fall directly into the return elevator or you have the lower sieve set too tight. Your completely closed chaffer is too tight and the sieve should be more like 3/8 over 1/4

When you open the chaffer more air will come thru. Open it first then see if you need to adjust the air. I run the chaffer on my 9400 at 5/8" your 6620 may be different. Lower sieve is around 7/16"

Found that when i opened up the sieve or chaffer, the bin behind me started getting more cob particles in it.

If your getting cob in the grain you need to adjust the cylinder speed and or concave clearance.

Do search on this forum. I posted step by step how to set a JD 6620 combine.

As for getting cobs in the bin you are grinding the cob to get that. So op-en the concave until your getting whole cobs FIRST THING.
