6620 combine straw walker plugging

I am done combining my corn for the season but It took longer because I had to stop frequently because the straw walker plugged light kept coming on. I looked at the straw walkers as the thresher was running and It seemed to be moving the trash but somewhat slow. While I was combining the corn I had to stop after a few hundred feet to let the machine clear. I know that the warning light was not malfunctioning as a large amount of trash would fall out the back and the light would go out.

I tried increasing the air and the travel speed but that had no effect on my plugging problem. This was the last week in November and the first week in December and I did not start running the machine until after noon. The corn did test at 30% for some and 25% for others all with the same results. If you know of anything that I should check or something that might be worn or broken I would appreciate your thoughts.

My dad's old Gleaner would always clog up with beans if the chopper blades were dull or the leading corner of the blade was rounded off. It would not create a vacum to pull the stalks thru the rattle chain. I know I'm talking about an older combine but thought it may be worth mentioning.

I did check the belt for slipping and while it could be slipping I could not see any indication of that.

There are a lot of similarities between newer and older combines. A long time crop farmer told me that a combine is just a threshing machine with it's own propulsion and harvesting system. Thank you and all who offered suggestions, together we will solve the problem.

Does the seperator engage lever "snap in" with a definite push or is it soft. This would indicate the seperator drive belts not being tight enough which will cause the whole seperator to run at a slightly lower speed.

I would bet that your straw walker slip clutch (#6 part Z699H $9.75 each and you need two) is worn out. With 30% corn and lots of trash your putting a lot of weight on the walkers and they are slowing down when the slip cutch is slipping. The clutches get worn so they do not make the "bell" ring. Not uncommon to see this issue.
