Gleaned "S" or SIX

Looking for information on these....
From what I understand there was an S and a Six....one was a "low bin" machine?
They seem to be almost an earlier version of the all crop 40 harvester....cutter bar somewhere around 5 to 6ft. Pull type or Waukesha engine.
I would love to learn more...see one run and ultimately find one.
If any one has any input that would be great.
Thanks!

I have a high bin 1948 S. They used the Wisconsin air cooled V-4. The earlier machines were the Six and had a 4 cylinder straight Wisconsin located high above the wheel behind the bin.

Years ago we had two Gleaner pull type combines. They were both six foot machines. Dad pulled the ?high? model with a JD ?A? and I pulled
the ?low? model with a JD 50. The?high? model had the bin placed high because the grain was emptied from the tank by gravity into a wagon or
truck. The ?low? model used an auger to unload with. The ?low? model was run by PTO, the other combine was powered by a Wisconsin engine.
I remember Dad built a cranking mechanism run by belting up the other tractor to start the Wisconsin.

Dan, that is my friend Randall Kastel in Blissfield MI, he is the one I got my 600 combine from we met here on YT he also has 5 1665's he has for sale
