I shelled a few acres of my cousins corn today with the old 55 and a 244 head. This the first time that I have shelled corn with this combine. It was working pretty well except for two things. One is my cousin was not real careful when he planted this corn. he is used to having a guy shell it with a 4 row head. This combine will drive on the next row where he planted too close. This combine has 18.4 26 tires which don't help. I have some 14.9 26 tires we might try and see if that helps.
One other thing is this machine will kick out almost whole ears out the back when turning on the ends when the combine is not loaded. It doesn't do it at all when the combine is kept under load. I did not put the filler plates in and was wondering if this is why it would do that. I tried tightening up the concaves but then it broke up the cobs.
