F2 ignition switch

came in from combining tonight after dark and shut down. Engine quit but none of the electrical stuff [radio, blower, gauges etc] shut off like its supposed to with the key off. dark and cold so didn't troubleshoot, just disconnected the battery. Any thoughts on what could be causing this? As I write this I remember that I have had just the opposite problem with my F3. Start it up and none of the electrical stuff works. Have to open the door on the side console and tap on the solinode [sp?] and the electrical stuff comes on. Could that solinode be stuck or failing causing the problem?

I never had a problem with the relay/solenoid on my F2. Certainly they can fail in several ways. The contacts can refuse to close, and can stick closed. Like so many things on a Gleaner, they are at least easy to get at.

I have a problem now with a main power solenoid on my CaseIH 7240. I've replaced it more than once, yet it will still shut everything down without warning!

Those "cab solenoids" or "accessory relays" commonly fail across all colors/brands of equipment.

When replacing, be sure to get the correct OEM part, or, if using a generic part, make SURE it's rated for "continuous duty".

A common "fender-mount" starter solenoid ISN'T and will overheat/burn out/stick/fail in this application.

Thanks for the insight on continuous duty rating. Ordered from the dealer today. is working ok, just have to disconnect battery when shutting down.
