Gleaner cyinder bars

When are they worn out? Does anyone have pictures of new vs old ones? I think mine are worn and causing corn grinding issues.

They are reversible;, if they have been turned and are flat on top rather than slightly curved, and the depth of the grooves is noticeably less in the Centre, then they are well worn. Some welding shops can hard surface the rasp for more life and capacity. Your manual should show a profile of worn bars. Ben

There"s a good illustration in the operator manual about when to reverse them. I would plan on reversing them in the same location, so there"s no balance problem....although there shouldn"t be any anyway, huh?

When my 72G was my main combine and it was time to reverse the bars it was much quicker to just drop the cylinder out the bottom and turn the cylinder around then back up in place. No need to fight all those bolts to reverse each bar independently.
