Someone will know if low tin from a John Deere 643 will fit on a high tin John Deere 643 corn head. Some people say no and some people say yes. I know the center dividers are the same. Just the sides I am concerned about. Anyone ever made the switch?????

They will fit. You just have to change the bracket where the low tin bolts on the top sides. It is in different place then the high tin. It is just flat iron with a slot in it. You can make it with just holes IF you line it up with your tin in place. The slots were to allow for differences in the tin and frames. Especially used tin headers that have been rough around.

The high tin to low tin happened at 380,000 serial numbers. The main frame did not change until they beefed it up at 466451. So the frame spanned the tin work change.

The bracket #5 hold the top side sheet on the high tin model. The bracket #10 holds the low tin upper on. They mount in a different place on the frame. Put the side sheet on the frame and you can easily tell where to mount #10 on your low tin frame.

I have changed quite a few over to low tin. Now most just go to poly.

PS: You need all of the parts for the lower mount for the low tin to work on your high tin frame. ( like #21 & #20) The low tin tilts up like the middle sheet metal. So you need more than just the tin work off of a different header.
