I smoked the belt that runs my clean grain elevator chain and "bubble up" auger. It was stuck and burned it up at the bottom drive pully. I replaced the belt and turned the chain with a pipe wrench manually thinking something was lodged or a paddle came loose or? After inspecting each paddle as it came around and found nothing I then engaged it at low RPM and broke the top sprocket on the clean grain chain. I replaced the bearings, sprocket, and clean grain chain. I turned it by hand again making sure everything operated smoothly. I harvested 30 acres of corn and had the same issue. Before I started I checked the chain to make sure it hadn't stretched and needed tightening. Belt smoked, replaced the belt, operated manually with a pipe wrench, ran it at low rpm and broke the top sprocket. Both times I broke the belt is was after I had stopped for a minute and then re engaged the seperator. It has to be something binding somewhere?
JD Seller - I know you have the answer. I have it all repaired again but am nervous to go to the field. It is a real pain in the butt to make this repair. Anybody have any recommendations?
