Better protection for Gleaner separator clutch wires?

Never had much trouble with the Gleaner F's, but with the M3 and now L3 seems 3-4 times a year those 2 wires on the electric separator clutch
catch a cornstalk and break. Gets kinda ragged resoldering up a patch.

Can't believe there isn't a better cover for those? Second time in 50 acres this year......

I saved a clutch magnet on the F2 after the wire lugs got pulled out. Drilled the filler out with a dremel mototool, got enough wire to solder to, and filled it with epoxy. Is it possible to make a shield and bolt it to the magnet?

Solder the wires on or use some heat shrink tubing to make a stronger connection. Mine only did that if I backed into standing corn while squaring up a corner. Ben

Paul I haven't done it to mine yet but I seen on two different m series machines looks to be a strip of black electrical sealment. You can buy it at any good electrical supply store. It came as a piece 3x5 strip. Remove the paper back and stick it on. (Must be clean dry surface) It will come off in one piece in the future by using a good putty knife. Good luck Hopefully someone has something better

Now that they're getting shorter it may be too late to fix them easily, but I fixed ours by soldering the wires back together at different lengths so that the repairs weren't right next to each other, gave them a couple of tight wraps of electrical tape around them, cut them up above and slid a tight fitting piece of plastic air brake hose over them then put connectors up above where they're out of the way and easy to get to. I leave about an inch and a half of the wires near the clutch uncovered by the air brake hose. That will allow you to wrap that area solidly with electrical tape around the wires and air brake hose making it a fairly integral piece. Then you can zip tie your heart out on that plastic line after you get it routed out of the way

The best fix for those that i seen was take a chunk for 3/8 brake line might have been 5/16 slide it over the wires bend it so so it 90's from that screw on protector to the srew holes only seen it done on a L3
I think its still working far as i know i run a R72 for a neighbor told him about that he said he hasnt had much trouble with his but his N6 in sunflowers he had so much trouble one year he welded the magnet to the plate just to finish the season.
