L2 problems

Well, every field I pulled into this yr the L2 or head broke🙊.. I've owned this combine for 4 yrs?🤔 Always make sure the major things are in tack. My father who I give a lot of respect to has a " side business " in farming with someone outside our business.. Last yr when I!!! Own the combine, wagons, auger, storage, I gave "them" the other company the bill.. I did 220 acres for them and charged 17.50/ acre😳.. the response was"I only know how much diesel you used out of our busssinrss". I still beat the rain but my response was" well you don't think it's worth it till you need it and it only breaks when under pressure and being used"... for an upgrade what about a 2388?

Went from a conventional combine MF 550 to a 1660 several years ago never would go back.A 2388 has a lot of electronics that can give a lot of headaches but all in all I would go for it.

So what is breaking on the L2?

No offense, but if you cant keep a L2 going, you might need to re-evaluate owning a combine. One of the simplest machines out there.

(OK, not quite as simple as a F, but you get my point. :) )

As far as charging, supply your own diesel and charge them accordingly, I think you are screwing yourself for that price.

For a good baseline, check your state custom rates, they are usually put out by the major ag college in your state.

You should be double to triple what you are charging.

In conclusion it sounds like you are being taken advantage of on price, and not making money is causing you to neglect a relatively simple machine to the point it breaks down.
