I have a model m gleaner and the unloading auger tube has a few really bad flat spots due to being too close to the truck when unloading what's a good way to fix it. I was thinking of using a port a power with 2 wood half circles from the inside with the inside auger removed. Anybody have a better way? Thanks

Drill a small hole in the Centre of the dent from the outside. Use an automotive dent remover, slide hammer type to pull the dent. Braze hole shut when done. No need to remove the auger.Maybe not better, but it is faster. Ben

Scissors jack with a large dia heavy wall pipe tack welded to the top of the jaw. Tack weld a small, long shaft to the base, to push it into the auger tube. May not need to remove tube from combine...pulling the auger is quick....3 bolts on the end cap, and pull it out.

Oh, and fashion some sort of bumper along the bottom side of the tube to protect it....we have all bumped our unloading auger......😠 Ben

I ran into the wagon one time with my M2 and was so embarrassed that I had to get it fixed. I took a peice of telephone pole that was very dry, light and about the same diameter as the tube, Cut a plug about 3 foot long and tapered it with a chain saw. The auger was on the shop floor so I drove the plug in with sludge hammer and block. Wasn't perfect when done ,but not to bad either. Al

Photoshop won"t let me post a pic here, but I did the same as Danney 970...to make the bumper bar I used a quarter x 2x2 angle iron...don"t need to weld it to the thin auger tube- just weld it on each end to the thick black metal. No more dings/dents on the bottom side of the auger tube. I also added an angle iron frame with expanded metal on the top side (when retracted)...the catwalk lets me walk from the cab to the engine compartment without climbing down and up. Also handy when the engine needs a shot of ether on cold mornings.

Guy at work just rebuilt the one on his 715 IH combine, it was rusted out. Bought the tube from a local grain elevator supply distributor. He said the old one was real light tin, the new tube is 12 gauge steel, so it is much stouter. He reused his auger, but they can get him left or right hand flighting and the center tube as well that the flighting is welded to. He just re welded the end pieces on the new auger tube. He said the new tube cost $64.
