Clean Grain Elevator Chain on JD 105

In the process of having the clean grain cross auger re-flighted on the 105. I'm thinking I should also put in a new elevator chain to avoid any bottleneck issues. Does anyone have a source for a new clean elevator chain on a 105? If not, can a chain off a newer model be adapted to work? Someone told me a 9500 chain would work but I don't have measurments of one to check. Tom??
 

If your chain is still good, you can buy new paddles from shoup for just over 1.00 each. That's what I did for my 55.

I just bought some new old stock parts on ebay for my 55. There is some parts in the box for a 105 if you need some. One of the parts is the idler chain sprocket for the chain that drives the feeder house. This sprocket is no longer available. there are probably a few others for the 105 also.

Thanks for the tip. I may do that. I think the chain itself is fine but some of the paddles have been chewed on if you know what I mean. Shoup lists paddles available for 00 and 20 series combines. That is the only one I see. The overall measurements look okay but I wonder if the rivet holes will line up. Did those same paddles fit your 55 okay?
 

I actually bought paddles for the tailings elevator. I bought the ones for a 3300, 4400 etc. These fit my tailings elevator fine. I also bought some for the clean grain elevator but I havnt put them on yet. The rivot holes lined up fine but yours may be different beings it is a 105.

I used regular bolts with a fender washer against the rubber and I used lock nuts since you can never really get the nuts tight enough without mashing the rubber. Elevator bolts would be better but I couldn't find any at the time.
 
I think a 6600 chain is the same but different length. I would have to spend some time with a parts book to make sure. I did buy some rubber paddles a few years ago to fit my 95. I did get a little shelled today with the 95. This is the first year that i used the quick tach feederhouse. I have a late 444 cornhead with factory poly snoots and it is a big improvement over the old 435 head we had. Pulls easier and feeds much more even. Tom

I was looking in the jdpc doing some research onsome other chains ves the 105. The 105 lists 42 paddles on the chain, which is a lot more than the other chains. I think I remember seeing that the 6620 chain is 26 paddles so that makes me hesitant to try a different chain even if everything else was the same.
 
The chain links are the same, as are the sprockets. I am guessing a 6620 chain is shorter, and that the paddles are spaced the same number of links apart. A supplier like Shoup should be able to answer your
questions and come up with something.
 
Update: So I called Shoup today. We concluded that the chain from a 6600/6620 is identical to the 105 except for the length. The paddles are the same as well as the spacing. So what we decided to do is purchase two 6600/6620 chains and cut what we need from one to extend to the required length.
