JD 105 Hydraulic Pump

Having some trouble picking up the 643 cornhead I got for this combine. Suspect the pump as it should lift it. Today we checked pressure on the pump. While holding the lever it peaks around 1900 and then begins backing off slightly. Anyone know what the standby pressure should be off-hand.

Probably time to swap out this pump. Anyone know if a pump off a later model combine would interchange. I do have a pump off a parts combine but no idea if it's better or not without actually changing it to see. Any way to have one checked before going to all that trouble?

When the pressure is backing off. likely the belt is slipping.

Have a good look at the belt and the sheaves to see if it is bottoming in the groove.

"Standyby pressure" will be almost nothing, you are measuring "bypass pressure", the pressure at which the safety relief opens.

UNFORTUNATELY I do not have a number for that, mite be worth taking a close look at the relief cartridge in the main valve, there may b a PSI number on it.

I'm guessing you've already looked in the Operator's Manual with no success? Gonna have to talk nice to the SM at an older dealership where they haven't thrown the manual out!

We confirmed that the belt is not slipping. Also we did pull out the relief valve plug and the spring was fine. Added 3 shim washers, but made no difference.
