Can anyone tell me what model JD combine this is or even if it is a JD? I can not find any pictures that look like this combine.

Hi 45 built in late 50's. For runner of the Hi-Lo 45 from about 61? to 64 with the 45 Square back coming in 65 to the end of the 45 series in 69. If I would go to the John Deere parts look up site I could find exact years. I had a 62, 63, 65 & 69. That machine looks to be in mint condition. Early combines has a flat head engine.

It is not a 40. Look at the header, steering column, ops platform, the separator frame, even the engine. It looks like a flat head which means it?s a Hercules. The 40 never used a Hercules. Tons of differences between the two combines.

That reminds me of the 1959 45 that I ran until we got a 3300 in 1971.The only difference I see is the Hercules engine where ours had the
john deere 145 overhead.Back in that day I thought the 45 was a decent size machine.
