Older case combines specifically 1060

Hi
I am new to the fourm and am looking for any information i can get about setting up my case 1060 to be able to thresh wheat. We did a small amount a couple weeks ago and got lots of straw and full heads in the grain tank not to mention lots of full heads leaving the combine with grain still in them. This is our very first wheat harvest ever and I'd like to try and get the most out of it. Any knowledge with these machines would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks[/img]

Hey there
I have several case combines I use for wheat
I close my cylinder all the way and then see what
The clearance is at the rear of concave
I like to adjust the rear of the concave so it is at 1/8
Inch
I know that might be a little tight for dry wheat but if you are cracking any you can turn the crank to open concave
I set my cylinder speed to 900 to 1000 rpm
Then adjust screens and air to get a clean sample
Always use a sharp sickle to cut wheat
It pays to do it right

sounds like you have the top and bottom sieves open too far, in Wheat I carnk the fan speed all the way up on my Big Case machines, I follow the suggested settings chart as a guide as I always have to fine tune a bit from the chart, Case machines when set correctly will not leave any kernels in the heads nor will it crack grain, you can also save ever seed that goes in the header. you can also clean the seed better than any other brand I have ran or seen ran. Like stated below yours may be set for corn and have the rear concave set too wide, if you cannot see the chart in the pics i posted i can email them to you if you like send me a e-mail @,,,, [email protected]

use the top of the chart to read what each setting is for, the bin pic is wheat in the bin of my 1660, the customer I was cutting for had a Lot of wild oats in that field is the white seeds you see, I had to add a couple I hope you can read them better I missed last
