new to me 850 has a double pulley on the right rear to drive the straw chopper. from what i can find this is to slow down the chopper for corn. trouble is belts. there is one long belt and one short. do you use just the long for one speed and add the short belt for the slower speed?

When you cutting soybeans you run the long belt directly to the chopper. This is high speed for cutting the straw.

When your shelling corn and just need to spread the residue, you run the long belt to the larger pulley on the double setup. Then the short belt from the smaller of the two on the double pulley to the chopper. This makes the chopper run slower. This reduces wear on the chopper in corn.
