Some pictures of a friends' Massey self propelled picker he used saturday. He did a lot of work to this one
to get it in working condition, did a great job. Filled the wagon for shelling next year at the Goessel, Kansas show.

My Dad had one when I was growing up on the farm. He did not like it, kept breaking down on him. Used it one season, then got rid of it. Went to an IH 2MH on the 450 LP. Used it for quite a few years before switching to the combine.

Two brothers picked corn with one around here before my time. The story is that it was re-powered with a flat head Ford. I heard they were light in the back and hard to steer when muddy. Despite those issues I think they are really neat.

The hard to steer when muddy comes from the rear wheels when you turn them with a load behind they will just slide sideways, the heavier the load the more direct pull you have. Neighbor had one for many a year. Don't know if it was the 4 or 6 cylinder version.

Judging from the nubbin ears and extreme amount of shelled corn it could be called a picker sheller.

Those are pretty neat to see. I always wanted one, but I have narrow rows, so no luck there.

Looks like he is having a good time! That's what it is all about!
