yesterday i got shanghighd into helping my nephew pull the rotor tub out of a junkt 1440 AXial Flow combine ,.. he had already taken the busted up one out of the 1440 he is gonna fix,. he used the smoke wrench then and it went well,,. when we arrived at Dranes in KY ,.Keven told my nephew the could not use the grinder and generator ,for fear of fire , if you turn that thingt on i will charge double ! ,. WTH ,. I Honestly could not see why he was worried about fire since it was drizzilin and everthing was green around there , no drought conditions at all , But Oh Well , it was HIS JUNK Yard ,. there were 3 of us and we had about 100 or more bolts to get out out with some decent ratchets and a cordless impact,. we saved the impact for the hard to get to places,, and there were many, my nephew asked keven politely to use the grinder stating how wet things was , again he said NO ,,.. got down to 15 problem rounded off tuf ones,. it was after 4 , and the straw boss come out and asked if we was gonna come back tomorrow ,. ,. I lookt Him Strate in the eye , and told him ," We Would Had Thisdamthang out 3 hours ago if THeY Would allowed us to use the equipment we Came With. told him swe was disgusted with doing stuff the horse drawn way! ,he called Keven Drane, who again said " no, BUT we could come back tomorrow ",. that incsensed me! . wth,.. i hollered loud enuf he mite have heard me in his office , " if we leave we aint never comin back tothisdamyardEVER AGAIN, even though over 30 yrs i had done business with his daddy favorably,.we had 4 hours of daylite and WE WERE GETTING THIS JOB DONE ,YOU TELL KEVEN , he can call the sheriff ,if he did not like that"!,all the while my nephew and Tom Were banging away Cold Chiseling bolts with a hammer , that poor strawboss knew WE meant Busines,.. He said ",Let me make another Call " and drove off ,, i lokked over at Tom And said " Now I done it , The deputy Sheriffs gonna ask us to leave" . 10 minutes later Bruce Drane showed up, and asked "Hows it going Fellas ", i was Releived , and i told him , what we STILL had to do ,and how we intended to finish ,. He said , " There aint No Reason You Cant GrinD Them BOLTS Off , Lets Get Ya Done So You GUYS Can Go Home " AND, So We did ,.in 10 minutes the tube cage was ready to come out,.Bruce Drane Got The Loader tractor , and with a lot of wiggling and prying and lifting we got that 3-400lbs of steel out of there,..when we had it all loaded and paid for Bruce , said , Thats the 1st Tub Drum cage we ever pulled out of a AXIAL Flow here ! ,.. i dont doubt him ,. that is a mean job , and Now we Got To put it Back in ,. and make it run , I know one person could not do it alone ,. BUT WE Can DO it TOgether , ,. But i goota tell you guys from my chair, the only way i would takle that job is if someone gave me the combine,.. and then i just mite have 2nd thoughts .. .

Never done that and don't ever plan on it. Several years ago I bought a big gravity wagon at a auction and when I got it loaded it was too tall so I needed to remove the extensions. The guy loading next to me was one of the Dranes, see him at the sale a lot but don't know his name. He came over and offered us tools and climbed up and helped us. Got everything load and offered to buy him lunch and he said don't worry about it, one of the nicest person I ever meet.

Went there to look at a combine several years ago.The way he talked it up this combine was cherry not.Grain tank on every CIH he had there was badly rusted out and patch poorly. The one that was in some good shape had a bad click when he kicked the rotor in gear it had a medal fence post in the rotor.Left after that.

I have bought parts there several times. They have a sign that says no torches. I always use my cordless grinder. I never gave that a thought, or asked Kevin about it. The sign just says no cutting torches. I thought anything else is fair game. I agree that Bruce is a good guy. You had no way to know, I have a 1440 I am going to part out. It has a good rotor in it. I tried to sell it to Drane's but they weren't interested.
