Need Gleaner Combine Info

Trying to help a nephew find some info on a combine him and a friend got. It is an old machine. It has AC Gleaner on the front corn of grain tank.
Has a straight head and pickup head attachment. Had been setting for better part of 20 years. They put in new gas and battery and was able to drive it up on trailer to haul home. Serial number is 19054 (that is what he says) would like to know year and model (if they even had one then) Also if the pick up head would be able to interchange on other straight heads. My opinion is that it should, but it needs to pick up belts.

Especially in the early years, Gleaner had different size throats and hooks spaced differently on each model of combine. The dummies....

After a while they made the hooks bolt on, and could at least accommodate 2 different series by moving the hooks.

Near the end of the conventional combines, they made kits to adapt a generic head to the specific model, but those kits are spendy if still around, it was basically just used at the factory to turn out a header and then bolt on the plates to fit the new combine it went with.

A picture would be woth 1000 words? They often had the model letter on the grain tank near the cab or operator platform?

As Bob said, the model letter should be on the serial number plate. Look for an E or A or C, a later model could be G or F. Ben

How big is it? Over the years they mad combines from 7' cut and up and smallest was a T with the A being the larges of the 2 models at that time. If you could load it on trailer with head on then I would guess it is an older smaller model with not over a 10' head. Size of head might help identify model.

A picture would help, or at least ALL the letters and numbers off the serial number tag.

Belts are still available for the belt pickup from aftermarket sources.

Many salvage yards should have used parts. Agco does a fine job keeping many of the common parts available as well.
