F2 Seperator Fan

I have a late model F2 that i've had about 12 years. About 8 years ago, and then again at the end of last season (last field, fortunately!) the seperator fan came apart, locked itself up, shed the belt, etc. I thought the first time was a fluke, but since it's happened again i wonder why. Some of the blades seem to break and come loose, causing the issue. They are held in with large internal snap rings but they all seem okay. Does something foreign (and metal) get into the fan? I didn't see anything and the lower screen thing is intact. Got the old one out (it was easier this time!) and will be getting another one from a salvage yard again. Any ideas would be appreciated. Thanks.

Common problem because they pressed the discs on. Local welding shop actually made a jig to rebuild them, about half what the salvage yard costs at $800. When I got my M2, I spot welded the discs in place, even the inside ones. Was careful to weld on opposite sides, and about the same amount on each side, so as not to affect balance.

Not that unusual on the Gleaner line, combo of how they are put together and something like a whole cob gets inside.

Thanks. At least i know it's not something i'm doing or have overlooked. Does anyone know if the fan from an early short shoe F-2 fit the later ones?
