gentlemen, I have a JD 6600 with the 329 engine, there is an oil leak at the bottom of the oil cooler beneath the filter, my book 'naturally' doesn't show the removal and re gasketing of the cooler. anyone have an idea how this comes off, and is there an o ring or gasket under it. thanks in advance.

NOT sure exactly what you've got going on, but you can view parts diagrams by going to www.jdparts.com. I find "previous parts catalog" to be the easiest to use.

thanks Bob, found oil cooler there, still not sure how it is attached under oil filter housing and doesn't show any gasket or o ring to seal where it attaches to block. perhaps just attached by pipe nipple that filter spins on. gonna tear into it in a bit. Thanks again. Just SW of Minot, come on down and give me a hand. LOL

Sounds like FUN, I was just in Minot Thursday.

Gotta head the other way tomorrow, to Murderapolis. NOT looking forward to that!

Has an oil filter gasket underneath it...and the center adapter doohickey that the oil filter screws on retains it if I recall.

thanks Ragnarok, figured it out, now have to find the o ring gasket to replace, tightened nut on pipe nipple, but only slowed it down to a slow trickle. thought about just letting it leak and maybe burn it up but no insurance on the old girl so it would just mean hauling a burned pile of junk out of the field.
