E model Gleaner

Hello, I'm thinking about buying a combine. I found an E model Gleaner. What should look at to assess the condition of the machine? I have never owned or even used a combine. I know it has an hyd. problem. When it gets warmed up the head won't lift. No P/S so I guess the lift is the only hyd. Advice on what to look at would be helpful. Thanks.

Check all the auger bottoms for rust. Check condition on belts, chains. Check the hopper bottom for holes. The variable speed will be hydraulic. When the machine is idling stand by the platform ladder if it rattles and bangs the vspeed is worn and needs rebuild.

Also check the concave and rock door for mis-alignment or damage. Check the raddle chain false floor is flat and straight across to prevent material wrap around. Decent little machine if in good shape. Ben

How about a hyd. pump for the E model? No where to find a new one?

I have no idea on that. Wonder if a pump from a K could be made to work?
