Im combining rye and every time i start up and get the cylinder spinning it shakes the whole machine like hell for a while, Should one be
getting compressed air in there every morning before start up and cleaning out the dust or is this a pretty common condition i have to live
with? Ran a small 4400 before, but dont remember all this shaking. Any thoughts out there?

We used to have that problem on our 7700,if we did not keep the dirt from building up in the cylinder. When you run it long enough, the dirt gets distributed more evenly inside the cylinder, then when you stop it,the dirt falls to one place creating an imbalance.

Take out a filler plate out and clean it real good then throw in a golf ball and it will stay clean.

Well I have several golf balls in my cylinder and they do seem to keep the dust/dirt knocked loose. What I always do when running wheat/Oats is I turn the cylinder backwards by had just a little bit and that seems to let the dirt fall out. IF I have the chopper on I just grab the drive belt and turn the machine backwards with it. If I have the chopper off I just turn the cylinder drive backward at the pulleys. When running the cylinder at high speed I rarely shut the separator off until the end of the day. It is not going to hurt anything to let it set there running with the engine at idle. This way things stay balanced better.

What JD SELLER does.....if an unbalanced cylinder is allowed to run, it may eventually Crack the metal around the bearings. Leave it run while unloading and give it a few turns backwards at the end of the day. Ben

I tried golf balls in a 9400 deere with solid filler bars and it didn't help for very long. Put them in when I changed rasp bars. I ended up with perforated filler bars which may not be an option for a 6620,
