Gleaner f2 question

I was thinking today when you set the concave clearance, it says to set it for a quarter inch. Is that a tape measure 1/4 inch or a 1/4 the gauge on the feeder house? Because a "1/4" on the gauge is really like a 1/2". Give me your thoughts, Thanks.

Set the cylinder so it is tight on the concave. Then set the measuring gauges to read zero. As you adjust the cylinder upwards to 1 / 4 inch as read on the gauges, the cylinder/concave clearance should also be 1/4 inch, as measured with a tape measure. Ben

The gauge is compensating for being so far off the center of the rotation. You are actually moving the cylinder 1/4 inch, but way out there in front the gauge is being moved twice as far.
