Anyone harvesting wheat yet?

Custom operators used to tell me that they liked to start cutting wheat in south Texas on June 5th most years. So is anyone on here cutting wheat yet? Yield? Quality?

Haven't seen any durum ripe here, but there probably is some somewhere. I just haven't been far enough out of town to see it.

A lot of the wheat here has been harvested. It would almost all be done if it wasn't for a week of spotted showers. They started early this year. I am about 40 miles southwest of San Antonio . Tony

They are test cutting as far north as SE and South Central Kansas..The wheat is close in my area..If we hadnt had lots of rain from mid April to late May harvest would probably be done here....It headed real early this year..

A hand full of people have started in north AL and southern middle Tennessee. Only heard numbers from one person so far. It was 60-70 bu./ac over 80 acres. Nothing like the 90-105 bu./ac We've had the past several years. Hopefully things will get better though. I expect by Saturday most everyone will be cutting here.

Dick2,

Go to allaboardharvest.com and enjoy reading the blogs/postings you'll find there. Several harvest crew members post their daily activities on there. They are great reading and a heckuva lot less dusty than running those combines. Oh, I forgot - they have cabs now - LOL. They sure do beat combining with a 5' Allis Chalmers All Crop 60 though. A lot more grease fittings, I'm guessing, or maybe that's all automatic now? 72 or 73 zerks on the A-C 60, as I remember.

Firing up the combine is on my list today or tomorrow. I'll be cutting by the middle of next week. I've only got 150 acres or so of wheat this year.

I have had 3 of those AC 60's. And used to be if you could start July 4 it was early, newer varieties now last week in June.

I'm done..still some farmers harvesting in central OK though.

I used a 1480 axial-flow that I bought cheap 'cause I sold my 9600 Deere. Was going to hire my wheat cut...but not many custom cutters meet my approval..and the local boys were all booked-up for the first of it.

I have never owned a red reaper before,,,but am sufficiently impressed by my cheap..worn-out International 1480 that I think I will fix it up and keep it!!

Saw one guy harvesting with a JD 4400 just southwest of Manhattan Kansas today. Another field completed close by.
