Upcoming auction with a Massey Super 92, 16 foot straight head in decent condition and runs well! Might try to buy it for restoration! What should I expect to pay?

If these machines have been kept up reasonably well, like shedded, good rubber and engine runs well, I would think $2000 would not be out of line. The one I bought was shedded, new tires on front, good paint, was supposed to be ceased, but wasn't, cost me $1500 by the time I tuned it, got a new drive belt and cleaned it up. Darald

I have yet to pay over $800 for any of my combines. They are a JD 55, MH 90, Case 600, and IH 151. All were shedded and fully functional after throwing gas and a battery at them. I cut about 10 acres of wheat with them every year.

Might be able to buy it for just a bit more than the scrapman will pay. There were a lot of 92's in our area back in the day; they were a pretty good combine.

In my area you have to out bid the junkers and we have one in EC Kansas that pays some crazy prices for combines.....4 years ago I watched him pay $1500 for a 55 John Deere...3 years ago he got a nice Super 92 Massey for $600.....Last year he paid $475 for a 80 Massey.....At another auction last fall an 82 Massey sold for $60 because it was out of the Kansas guys territory..

My guess is that you will have to pay from $500-1000..Good luck..
