Several years ago I received a call from a man near Burden Ks. He had purchased a place from a man that said he would be back to get an old Oliver combine soon. The man thought the owner had died as the combine had been setting there for years. I knew the combine, it belonged to Ralph Bruce, the local Minneapolis Moline / Oliver dealer. I went over and made the deal to buy it the evening. Two days later I received a phone call from Justin, he claimed to have something that he thought belonged to me. He had moved into the building that Bruce had used for his dealership. While remodeling Justin had found an old Oliver umbrella between some walls. It was the umbrella that was used on the combine I had bought two days before.
While cleaning up my parents place I found this newspaper article from June 2 1972. Bruce was the first to start harvesting in Cowley County that year. This is the Oliver combine I now own. I have the Oliver sign from that dealership hanging in my shop.
I think I have some really neat toys.
