I recently acquired a property and a k2 case pulltype
Combine was left behind. It's has a self
Contained motor the combine seems
To be in pretty decent shape for age.
I can't find much info on these models.
Are they rare? I have never seen 1 in our area before.

I've only seen one in my neighborhood. It got scrapped several years ago. Case based their self propelled combines off them.

We had a fair amount of K-2's out here in Wyoming, I even have one the neighbor bought new, for 40 years trespassers used it as target practice, The K-2 was a later version of the model "K" with some upgrades over the "K" it replaced, they used a 32" wide cylinder and a 12' hdr , they used the VAE power unit for power, they also had a screw type power-lift on the early units (later ones had hyd lift starting in 1949) and electric start as options. These were also the platform the Case SP-9/SP-12 were built on my production book shows them starting production in 1945 and running through 1953 , over 5000 units were produced of the K-2, K-2 was the big one and its little brother the M-2 was much the same machine just a bit smaller in certain areas, grain bin straw rack ect

Here is a few pics of combine the tin work is all straight on it and actually tires and everything are pretty good considering the length of time it prob sat outside.
The owner died 20 years ago and his kids said combine been sitting there as long as they can ever remember.
Thanks for the info and comments!

I agree, it looks like it is in good shape considering its age and life outdoors. Are you planning on getting it up and running again?

I think eventually I'd like too.
At best I have a case LA tractor from same era I thought it would look good hooked to at edge of driveway as kinda a yard Ornement for farm.
Maybe sounds silly but think make a nice display.

My uncle came over with his Case K2 combine to help us combine a heavy crop of rye. The engine was so underpowered that he commented that if he had to use the straw spreader, which was just a straight piece of 1X4, that he couldn't make it with all that straw. We baled the straw but didn't particularly like it for bedding.

the sp 10 and 12s models had DC motors , judging from pics i saw ,. i would think that the VAC power plant on the pull type was adequet in most conditions ,.. wow , they left the combine on the place ,,about 1983 . my Dads parents farm had m moline pull type with a v -4 motor,it was in pretty soory condition , but all there ,.the scrapper got it before i could arrange to get it hauled from louisvillee to here in the hills of southern ind ,,, when the place sold , the new owners wanted to get it plowed into patio retirement homes asap ,.,.
