Case 700 Rice Special-First Start in 5 Years

I want to say Dad bought this machine about 10 years ago, but I was too little to remember exactly. He then drove it 200 miles to our house in Houston and parked it there for a few years. When he bought the farm we drove it back across Houston and it's been sitting under that temporary shelter he hastily built for it for the last 5 years.

Unfortunately Dad past away very unexpectedly last sept. at 53, the pole barn his life insurance paid for was mostly finished a few weeks ago. This last week was my spring break and one of the things I wanted to get done was get this combine started and moved under better cover.

The HT lead going from the coil to the distributor was bad, points were shot and the starter was also not disengaging. Took the started 100% apart, cleaned and greased it, couple cranks it worked great.

Ran it off a transfer tank as real fuel tank had old nasty gas in it, carb had a little leak, but other than than she started and ran good.

(quoted from post at 20:22:14 03/18/17) Good job! Surprised that a rice machine of that age isn't all rotted out. What are you gonna do with it??

Yeah we've always been amazed by it's condition. Dad found a cherry of a two row corn head to go on it as well, had to have it shipped down from Pennsylvania though.

The story goes that when Dad went to get this combine out of the barn when he first got it. All it needed was clean gas and a hot battery.

The family that owned it, before Dad got it, bought it new and farmed with it for like the next 20 years.

And when we were driving off the old lady who owned it came out crying with the original manuals and papers.

I'll probably go though it clean it up some more and farm with it in some way or another.

Very nice 700

You should have seen the paint on this thing when we first for it. Looked like it rolled off the assembly line the day before.

This is the nicest one by far, but Dad also had a two 600's, another 700 and a 960.

Not sure how many of those will clean up to run, some might just be parts machine.

Its good to see someone taking care of old equipment.I,am sure your dad would be proud of you taking care of things.

Nice pictures...Thanks...Sorry about the loss of your Dad....I expect that driving a Case combine
