I se this 1440 on a online auction it dose not look bad to me and it looks like it has a set of new tractor tread tires and was wondering how they do in barley I will be useing it in heavy barley it has a 17 foot head wondering how fast it could go max in heavy dry barley and is there good or bad things about this ih model

I can't speak to the 1440 but I harvested many acres Barley with a 1660 and it works great. I swathed mine with a 12 ft. swather and used a pickup head. I could really move running only 12 ft. through it.

I think you will be fine. AFs love barley. Course what we grow
around here is malt barley. Don't know if that's what you have
or not. I've never been around a 1440. But around here
1480s pushed 30ft headers and 1460s used 24ft headers in
our typical 50-60 bpa barley. I think 17ft on a 1440 will work
fine.

I was told final drives can Crack on those
if they've carried a lot of weight. I guess
bin extentions and bigger heads were hard on
them.

I used a 1440 with bin extensions for years with never a problem. Would like to know who your source of mis-information is.
