F-2 Gleaner guys please

also is the outer bearing tight in the quill that holds the bearing ? anything loose can cause vibaration that will break parts..

No, I didn't check any of the above. Got another new disk coming, and tomorrow I'll add a pilot bearing to the order. On this shaft centering, do I use a square to determine the alignment?

Maybe a couple of them. I don't remember. Whatever it takes to get to right. When I bought a used F2 years back, I found everything in the drive bad- plate, shaft, etc. I don't recall if there was even a pilot bushing. Dealer provided all new parts, including a flywheel. I remember saving the old one, as some machine work could certainly make it usable.

When I went to reassemble with all new parts, I found the problem. The bearing support was way off center. I just don't remember what I did. Probably a lot of trial and error. Maybe trying to line up the new shaft with the new flywheel pilot, without the drive plate installed? With the bearing support positioned correctly, the shaft should slide in easily.
