Western Special just like the one we had. Never could get the Chevy to run right. We ended up trading it and another 510 we had for a new grey cab 760.

I've never run one but I've watched a few youtube videos and the ones with the V-8 chevies sound sweet

Early ones had a 327 and the later ones had a 350.

I had a late one with a 350 Perkins diesel, it was a good engine.

I'd have hated to try and keep a gasser running, the diesel engine was the
only part of the combine that wasn't broke all the time.

my first combine was a 510 with the 327 and they did sound good, the combine is long gone but I still have the 327 and plan to use it in a truck project down the road.

Dealer I worked for years ago had several 510s out, 327, 350 gas and later 354 Perkins. The service book specs for the gas V-8 engines had a smaller lift cam for governed farm use. They did sound good though.

They did sound sweet but drank gas like crazy! Went on wheat harvest just out of high school and ran a 510 with the 354 Perkins. The bosses brother had a crew also with 510 gas burners. We could run twice as many hours (all day and into the night) on a tank of fuel. In a truck it was another story. We had International trucks to haul the combines and the Chevy trucks would run rings around us.

those were the days ,,. I recall finishing harvest , my brother making that 327 earn its kep sloshin thru mud , and slip slidin on hills ,. its been dark a couple hours ,. and we are down to the level 2 acre triangle , and I am running the truck and between dumps . listening Frampton play "DO YOU FEEL LIKE I DO " , got done before the storm ,.

There was only one 510 Massey in the neighborhood..He started out with a 60 Massey,then a 300,then the 510,then a 750,and his last combine was a 7720 JD....The 1980's got him and he sold out...He had a 1805,2745,(2) 1130,and a 180 MF tractors plus a 33 Massey Harris..He had several pieces of MT tillage equipment..

Our 760 burned half the fuel both our 510s combined and got just as much done if not more. Our 760 had the Perkins 354.

the 1st 510 with a 327 burned ,golly that fire took off FAST ,. it had a staircase to get to the cab ,,. my brothers next 510 had a 350,. it never was the combine the 1st 510 was ,..he parted it out ,,.. the motor was the best thing on the combinre,. neighbor kid bought the motor . it went into a demo derby cars about a dozen or more times,.. maybe more
