M-H 26 doing soybeans

Got the old gal out a month ago to limber it up. Though it went slow it still was fun.

Nice picture..Would liked to have been there to hear that flathead Chrysler 6 purr..
In the 1950's a neighbor had a 26 Massey..

You're right Belg. The outside round was the toughest because I had to take a full 10' cut. After that I cut 4-5'and could not go downhill or the shaker pan would fill up too much. I only did 2 acres. The rest my renter finished. He averaged 65 bu. This machine wasn't made for soybeans with that high of yield. It was a great year. 25 years ago there was little to none soybeans in grown NW Wis. We've come a long way.

Yes Blaine, those Chrysler flatheads are hard to beat. If I can find a manifold gasket, next year I'll have a M-H 82 in the field too. And hopefully a M-H 35 joining them.

I cut my teeth on an 82. Did a good job in beans but was slow going if the beans were tough. That flathead was dependable but hard to work on being underneath the combine. When the cylinder slugged I could remove the top door, stick a board down into the cylinder and roll it backwards.

I just pulled a 230 Chrysler out of a 82 Massey combine at a salvage yard..
The combine was pretty far gone but it only took 30 minutes to free up
the engine...They say that that it didn't have many hours on a rebuild 20 plus
years ago..It will go in a Massey Harris 101 pulling tractor..

Joe, I sent you an e-mail, you maybe didn't get it. I'm on F between Clear Lake and Amery (fire # 421). I'm usually home all day.
