Did go to help my friend with his corn harvest and got about four hours of combining done. Was a late start because of heavy frost on wet stalks [11:30 am] and had to quit at 3;30 because of lack of trucks. Got one big semi trailer load and one smaller truck full, about 40 tons of shelled corn from 16 poor yielding acres. There were several wet spots but the old John Deere has rear wheel assist and I was never stuck but it did make for slow going in places. John Deere made a really good combine when they made this one. It is a little bigger than a regular one and they call it a Titan II.
Have many more acres to go but it will need to wait for a while as it is going to rain for a few days. That should make for some more playing in the mud. Happy farming.
