Versatile 400 swather

Trying to swath some peas. Lost a bearing on the shaft with the tire. Trying to figure out what I have. Parts book shows something different. The bearing on the non-tire side is what the book is showing, but the one on the tire side is heavier (shown).

Is the one that came off an all-in-one bearing and special order?

I have those style bearings on my Fox chopper.

They are a spherical-type unit. They were originally sold as a unit, with the housing.

I have attached a picture, showing the NTN style that crossed to the units in my Fox chopper - you should be able to do
the same with the unit you have.

If you need help finding them, let me know.

If your bearing housing is in good shape, you can buy a new bearing and put it back in the housing. Bearing goes in the slots in the housing and then turn it
90*...good to go. Take the housing and size of the axle to a bearing house and they will fix you up.

Thanks Bob.

Looks like you're up n at em early this morning

Then I checked the online price for the housing and bearing. $546. Didn't pay that much for the swather. Hope the housing is good enough.

Anywhere a guy can get used parts on these?

There are two different size bearings that could go into your axle. The earlier model 400s had some trouble with the axle shearing off, so they made the new style axles a bit heavier. therefore the bearing will have a larger hole. This is on the bearing closest to the wheel. The one on the other end is the same bearing for all model years. I know because I have both swather types here, and should have the bearings too.
Can you measure the diameter of your shaft, and this will tell if you have the old style bearing or the new style. I will go see if I have the bearing numbers and get back to you.

I don't have all the bearings here, but I think I have the part number figured out.
The Versatile parts books are in New Holland parts books....search 400V
The inside bearing....farthest away from the tire is a V5994 New Holland parts...converts to RA115RRB
The old style outside bearing closest to tire...V7185 New Holland......converts to UC310-31. (Has a collar with set screws to hold tight to shaft).
New style outside....V19113 New Holland....converts to 1726310-2RS. I believe it had a normal eccentric bearing collar to tighten to shaft.
If I remember correctly Versatile made the shaft just a bit bigger on the new style axle, where the outside bearing fits, I believe it is 2 inch diameter. The rest of the shaft is 1-15/16 inch.
The old style axle was 1-15/16 all the way through both bearings.
Hope this helps....Wayne
