From harvesting six rows to one.

Last Wednesday our corn harvest in Mid-Michigan came to a halt after a combine fire in our JD 7720. The next day we continued on with a Case 730 pulling a JD #18 corn picker. Slow but it did a good job. Does anyone know what years this corn picker was built?

The 18 came out in 1959 or 60. I have a sales brochure of it being pulled by a 430. They were made untill sometime in the mid to late 60's. Sorry to hear about your fire. I try to blow my combine off every day but the 7720 has so much stuff under the seat and behind the cab that it is almost impossible to clean them well and then a bad bearing can cause lots of problems. Are you going to part it out? I am thinking about a different engine for my 4620 as the current one needs overhauled. Tom

Those were darn good machines but the chaff build up under the cabs is a major problem. When we used ours a lot I would blow it out everyday. Looks like a lot of salvageable parts there. I still have my 7720 if your looking for a replacement, located in Indiana.
