I have a late model f2 diesel hydro 4?4 it will bog down in mud and almost stop movement. I am wondering if anybody knows how to pressure test trans. Not sure there is anything wrong with achine or if it is just field conditions. Would like to know if maybe charge pressure is low.

Thanks
Dennis

I wouldn't push a machine through heavy mud til it bogs. Does the engine lug down? If it does, then the hydro is likely working OK, if not then it may need some work.Don't abuse the hydro, they can be very expensive to repair. Ben

On the M2 hydro, if it bogs down you need to pick a lower gear...system protects itself that way. Dunno about the F2 hydro. Check the op manual.

I don't know much about hydrostatic, have an F3, M3, and L3 with them, and just cross my fingers and push the lever......

Does the engine pull down?

Does the belt slip?

Does the hydro bypass?

That is the simple stuff to notice and go from there.

But, I am a steering wheel holder when it comes to a hydro, I don't know a thing. This is the first year it has really been wet during harvest in the past 5 years (boy did it average out fho for over the years, was it wet!) and the L and the M pulled through a few ruts. The F is kinda on blocks at the moment. All are just 2wd.

No belt not slipping
Egine not bogging down
No wheel slip
In 1st gear

I an thinking it is going over high pressure relief. But i would like to run a pressure check to make sure nothing else is going on. I am a heavy equipment mechanic and work on hydros all the time and rather fix now if something is going on.

Thanks
Dennis

Dennis, What brand RWA. I have a Gilcrest that is annoying me right now. There are a couple connections on the RWA block at the rear axle I can couple to and check fore and aft pressure. There are also ports (no couplers) on the motor. Uses a dixon brand coupler. (May be unique to Gilcrest.) Tom

I only ever did it once, and that was years ago, on an L2. So, if you can find some service info, you can do it, quite simply. There are test ports/plugs down on the hydro, and an adjustment. Have to have someone run it wide open in high gear with the brakes locked up, to reach stall pressure.
