JD 55 cutting wheat

We had our little combine bee today. An old neighbor who just retired this year jumped on the squareback 55 and never gave it up. Think he missed farming a little.

A JD 55 diesel, hydro combine is a real nice machine. I have been looking for a good one for years and there are not many left.

We weren't looking for one but I stumbled across this one right here on ytmag about 11 years ago. You are right about numbers left. I haven't found one spec'd out exactly like this one yet. I'm sure there are a few more out but they are getting scarce by they year.

That is a very nice looking machine. Thanks for posting. I know they made them but I've never seen a hydro in person. Do you have any pictures of the controls inside the cab? Is it like a newer machine as far as a hydro handle?

The hydro lever is mounted similar to one on a 00 or 20 series. I'll either scan or get pics of the setup.
